Dedham Public Schools will have a new principal joining their leadership team this year.  Superintendent Nan Murphy is pleased to announce the hiring of Jacqueline Hebert Mendonsa as the next Principal of Avery Elementary School.   Mendonsa will replace Principal Ed Paris, who is stepping into an administrative role in the District as Dedham’s Director of Teaching & Learning.

“Dedham is gaining another wonderful school leader with Principal Mendonsa,” commented Superintendent Nan Murphy in announcing the hire.  “After meeting with Avery staff, students and parents it was clear that her experience, enthusiasm and positive presence would be a strong fit for our school community.”

Mendonsa has 20 years of experience as an educator, most recently working as the Principal of Shutesbury Elementary School in Shutesbury, Massachusetts, where she’s served the community for the last ten years. Prior to her leadership in Shutesbury, she worked in the Springfield Public Schools as a Grade 4 Teacher, Coach, Assistant Principal, and Principal.  In addition to her work as a building leader and teacher, Mendonsa's enthusiasm and positive presence make her a strong fit for our school community. Not only did she receive positive feedback from staff and families who had the chance to meet her last week, but her references offered even further support for her as an ideal leader for Avery..   Ms. Mendonsa has a Bachelor of Arts, Masters of Education and a Certificate of  Advanced Graduate Studies in Educational Administration from the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Ms. Mendonsa will begin her new role at Avery on July 1, 2024.
